No, you posted publicly so you get a public response. That's how it works.

First off, does this look familiar?

It should. It appears at the bottom of EVERY MESSAGE DISTRIBUTED ON THIS LIST. I don't know about anyone else but whenever someone does something stupid like that when the right way is practically screaming at them it pisses me off for 2 reasons. Actually, both reasons are about the same but from 2 different perspectives.  To me, what that person did is indicative of someone not giving the first twinkling of a damn about how to move and interact in this particular community. They refuse to engage their brain and insist that someone else do their thinking for them.  Second, it's indicative of a problem that our society in general suffers from and that problem is laziness. I detest laziness. I detest people who ask me to think for them and I detest people who have no desire to learn or become better as people simply because it's easier to let someone else take up their slack.  In my line of work I can't begin to tell you how many people can't find the power connector on their cable modems even though it's labeled uniformly on all our modems, "AC POWER."  I will invariably be asked "which one's the power? I have 3 things back here..."  When I tell people to shut down their computers, invariably I'm asked, "So you want me to restart?"  While I was in school learning networking and Windows NT I worked for Boston Market (have you heard of them?).  I fielded this question about 50 times a day:

"What does the Sandwich, side and drink combo come with?"

I wanted to reach over the counter and smack them.  My other favorite was trying to get people to choose side dishes for their meals. I would ask which two sides they wanted. I got one of two responses uniformly. Bear in mind there's a huge menu right behind me labeled "sides". I was invariably asked either, "What are my options?" or, "What do you mean, right or left? I don't understand."  These are the same idiots who send unsub messages to this list without bothering to just do what they need to themselves. My employers never care whether someone's stupid, smart or anywhere in between so long as their money is green.  In here, no one's paying me to be tolerant of ignorance and, that being the case, I refuse to smile and tolerate it. In this environment I find it far more beneficial to tell people that they're a bunch of lazy dolts and then pray that they care enough about the insult I just hurled at them to go look up "dolt" in the dictionary. At that point they've taken their first baby step into a larger world and might just discover that life in general is a lot easier and a lot less frustrating when you THINK FOR YOURSELF.

Finally, if you don't want your inbox space wasted by the open exchange of ideas and opinions here, YOU unsubscribe and get the hell out, missy. I will NOT send anyone a private e-mail to convey ANY information that is so readily accessible through normal use and interaction on the list.  And as for the "grow up" comment, it's the real "grownups" in this world who have a real interest in educating themselves and being productive in society.  The asshat who posted the UNSUBSCRIBE message is the one who needs to grow up, not me.
